Introducing an exclusive benefit to improve performance while preventing injury at Garden State Dance Project!
Schedule your Functional Movement Screen (FMS) to assess your range of movement and ensure you are in the best possible physical shape to dance.
GSDP is one of the first in the industry to integrate Functional Movement Systems into its curriculum, as established by Cook and Burton. GSDP is proud of its affiliation with local FMS leader, Eric D’Agati, who is industry-renowned and consults on FMS with the NY Giants. Mr. D’Agati certified co-founder and Creative Director, Eli Kababa.
Since FMS highlights asymmetries in the body the goal is for students to learn specific mobilization, stretches, and exercises related to their weakest movement pattern so they are less likely to injure themselves during dance. Teachers will take the newfound knowledge of each student’s strengths and weaknesses into class and apply it accordingly. Currently, Olympic athletes, the NHL, and other professional sporting organizations employ this state-of-the-art equipment to optimize their athletes’ health and performance.
How it works:
- The initial Functional Movement Screen is performed and the results are shared.
- For $150 you can purchase the corrective program based on the results of the screen. This consists of three 45 minute 1-on-1 sessions with an FMS Certified Trainer. They will learn mobilization, stretches, and exercises related to their weakest pattern. At the end of your last session, our FMS Certified Trianer will conduct a re-screen to re-evaluate progress and next steps.
